Feargal McCrory has teased a “fire fight” when he takes to the Las Vegas stage against Mark Magsayo this weekend.
The Irishman is seeking to springboard a new chapter in his career as he makes his Zuffa Boxing debut in what will mark his first fight since beating Keenan Carbajal in March 2025.
McCrory (17-1) features as the co-main event to Andres Cortes against Eridson Garcia, live on Sky Sports from 11pm Sunday following Caroline Dubois against Terri Harper.
“He brings it, I bring it, it’s going to be fireworks,” the 33-year-old told Sky Sports. “As a fighter who wears his heart on his sleeve, I can’t wait to get in there.
“You don’t want to miss this one. He won’t have to come looking for me, I promise you that.
“It’s something that excites me – this opponent, this platform, this opportunity. You want to be on the biggest stage. I get to challenge myself against him.
“I’ve sacrificed everything. I’m confident but confidence comes through sacrifice and preparation. I think you’re right when you say it will be a fire fight.”
McCrory’s sole career defeat came in June 2024 when he suffered an eighth-round stoppage against former super-featherweight world champion Lamont Roach Jr, who has since drawn to Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz.
There is a scenario in which the winners of Sunday night’s two headline fights could meet in the ring in the near future.
“That’s a strong possibility. You’d need to speak to Zuffa,” he said.
“Personally I’m not looking past April 5. My whole world begins and ends April 5. If I take care of business, I fight whoever they want me to fight.
“I have never turned a fight down in my life, I won’t start now. Whatever comes next so be it.”
McCrory has welcomed a fresh era of the sport with Zuffa, where the ability to deliver a show has been heightened in value.
While victory remains paramount, there is a new onus on fighters to entertain on the biggest platforms.
“The guys told me initially it’s not like your every day situation of how boxing is, where if you lose you drop out of the world top 15,” he explained.
“When I fought Lamont Roach I was top 15, I fought a great world champion, gave a good performance and then I’m lost in the wilderness.
“But if you come and give a great performance and an exciting show, you don’t go from 10 to 30, you could go from 10 to five.
“It’s a great structure and how they look at it, performance is very important, how you carry yourself.
“It’s not something we can think about but it is a great comfort for a fighter knowing that, when he goes in and lays it all on the line, he’s not in the wilderness and forgotten about.”
